Q&A with Dr Christopher Leat
I remember my girlfriend (now my wife) returning from a visit to a beautician in about 1994.
She said, “there’s a doctor there doing collagen. I think you should learn how to do that. You might like it.”
This was before Botox and all the different treatments we have now. That doctor taught me how to do collagen injections.
Within 3 years, Botox, Restylane, IPL, and lasers appeared, and the rest is history.
Back then, I never thought cosmetic medicine would be a full-time job for me.
I have a great deal of variety in my work – skin care, skin cancers, leg veins, and anti-ageing cosmetic medicine. However, I probably get the most personal enjoyment out of making a real difference to someone’s appearance – something that changes their life in a positive way. I’ve had patients start new careers and relationships after treatments. That’s what cosmetic medicine is really about in my mind – helping people gain confidence to live life to the fullest.
I love playing golf, but I rarely have the time. Usually, I just spend an hour at the golf range – which is very relaxing for me. The whole family loves skiing holidays and we go to the snow when we can.
My wife Tricia, two teenage boys, and Milo the dog.
