Risks of Cosmetic Procedures – Dr Christopher Leat Responds to Channel Seven Report

Client Alert — Tailored Skin Care Treatments in Benowa, QLD

You may have seen the story featured on Channel Seven’s Sunrise Program this morning about the risks of Cosmetic Procedures.

Dr Christopher Leat Medical Director of Envisage Skin Clinic responds to the story:

“This is a well-balanced look at the industry.

Of course we don’t actually know how many procedures are performed in Australia as there is no mandatory reporting. $350M on anti-wrinkle injections equates to about one treatment per 20 adults per year, so this is quite possible.

The take away message is that there are good and bad practitioners out there, and it is important to do your own homework when choosing where you go, and this I would whole heartedly agree with.

It is true for nonsurgical procedures as it is for surgical ones.

Ask the doctor what qualifications they have, and get treatment at a clinic that has a qualified doctor on-site, don’t base your decision solely on price as this may end up being a costly mistake.

In Australia, Doctors who are members or fellows of the CPCA, ACCS or ASAPS are generally experienced and knowledgeable about nonsurgical cosmetic procedures.”
