Hair Transplant Options Gold Coast

How effective are hair transplants for treating hair loss?

Hair transplants are highly effective for treating hair loss, with approximately 90% of transplanted hairs growing permanently. Advances in techniques, especially in Australia, have contributed to natural-looking, lasting results. Dr. Chris Leat, specialises in hair transplants and emphasises individualised approaches for optimal outcomes.

Envisage Clinic doctors have been performing hair transplants for over 20 years.

Dr. Leat has extensive experience both as a practitioner and as a patient, having undergone a transplant himself a few years ago.

Modern hair transplants are always single follicle transplants. Hair roots are placed one by one, ensuring a natural result. A good hair transplant is undetectable, even by your hairdresser.

Hair transplants are necessary in areas without small hairs or where small hairs do not respond to other treatments.

Hair Loss in Women

Hair transplants can be used to fill in or camouflage scars, recreate sideburns (for example, after a facelift), or advance a receded hairline or high forehead.

Hair Loss in Men

Hair transplants can advance a receding hairline or fill a bald spot on the crown. Modern transplants use the Follicle Unit Extraction (FUE) method. Individual hair roots are removed from the back of the head using a punch tool smaller than 1mm. These grafts are placed in the desired area.

Procedure Details

The procedure is performed under light oral sedation and local anaesthetic. Some downtime may occur due to swelling.

Often, hair must be cut short, but with longer hair or smaller transplants in women, only a small strip of hair at the back may need to be trimmed.

Hair grows slowly, about 1 cm per month, so results take time. As the saying goes, “It won’t happen overnight, but it will happen!”

Restore Your Confidence Today with Regenera Activa Treatment

Hair loss, also known as alopecia, is a common condition that can significantly impact self-esteem and confidence.

Over 50% of men over 50 and 30% of women experience hair loss.

Male pattern hair loss can start as early as the late teens and deal a devastating blow to self-esteem and confidence.

At Envisage Clinics, we understand the emotional toll that hair loss can take. That’s why we offer a range of safe and effective treatments tailored to your specific needs.

The first and most important step is to get a proper medical assessment of your hair loss.

At Envisage clinic we offer this as a free or bulk billed consultation with one of our doctors.

The most common forms of hair loss are male pattern hair loss and female pattern hair loss, but it is important to exclude other forms such as alopecia areata, traction alopecia, and fibrosing or scarring alopecias.

Consultations and assessments are best done face to face, but if distance is an issue can be done by video telehealth consultation.

Male pattern alopecia tends to run in families and can start at an early age. It begins with recession of the hairline and sometimes thinning at the crown. The speed of hair loss and the pattern of hair loss varies greatly, but it tends to progress over time and can end with the front and top of the head completely bald and only the back and sides of the head with hair.

Female pattern alopecia also tends to run in families. It differs from male pattern hair loss in that there is usually progressive thinning of hair over the front of the head rather than actual recession and complete hair loss. It usually starts later in life.

Treatments for Male and Female Pattern Alopecia.

Fortunately we have several treatments for both male and female pattern hair loss that can be very effective.

Unfortunately there are a lot of treatments that are marketed, especially online, for hair loss that have little to no or very questionable benefit.

This has led to a general perception that hair loss is untreatable and something that you just have to live with. This is just not true.

There are also hair loss clinics that package routine treatment into expensive monthly subscriptions. This is unnecessary.

The most important thing is to start treatment early.

Hair loss is often a progressive condition.  By starting treatment early, you can significantly improve your chances of preventing further hair loss and restoring your hair’s density.

The Miniturisation Process: Individual hairs gradually become thinner and shorter over time before disappearing.

The Benefits of Early Intervention: Acting before hair follicles are permanently damaged can lead to more effective treatment outcomes.

With hair loss prevention is better than cure. Don’t wait until it’s too late.

Schedule a consultation today to discuss your hair loss concerns and explore your treatment options whatever your age or sex.

Alopecia Treatment Options

Medical prescription treatments.

There are two commonly used medication treatments for hairloss. These can be used as topical solutions or as tablets.

We have had many excellent results with these, for both men and women, and the main treatment that we use has very few to no serious side effects and is safe and inexpensive to take.

Generally these treatments will prevent further hair loss, but they often cause impressive thickening of hair that is starting to thin out.

 Activa Regenera.

This revolutionary hair loss treatment offered at Envisage Clinic is clinically proven and safe:

  • A quick procedure (approx. 30 minutes)
  • Virtually drug free
  • Only required every 1 to 2 years
  • Quite painless

This is a particularly safe and effective treatment.

Generally about 3 tiny (2.5mm) biopsies of hair roots are taken from the back of the head under a little local anaesthetic.

From these biopsies a cell suspension is produced in clinic which is rich in progenitor (hair follicle parent) cells.

This solution is then micro-injected into the hair loss areas.

Treatment is quite painless with no down time and studies have shown an average 30% increase in hair density after treatment.

Envisage Clinic was the first clinic in Australia to offer Regenera Activa treatment, and we have had many excellent results.

In comparison to other similar injectable treatments we have found Regenera Activa to be far superior in results, with the added benefits of reduced discomfort and only a single treatment being needed over a 1-2 year period rather than multiple PRP sessions.

What are the risks of the treatment?

We all know that any surgical procedure carries risks. Hair transplantation may include bleeding and infection. Some risks that are posed include unnatural-looking new hair growth and scarring.

This can be cured by antibiotics and cold compresses. It can also include the so-called shock loss – a sudden loss of transplanted hair, which is rarely permanent.

When new hair growth starts, people experience inflammation of the hair follicles.
