I thought today I would answer some of the most asked questions about Anti-Wrinkle Injections. 

Let’s get right into it!

How much do Anti-Wrinkle Injections Cost?

Probably not as much as you may think. The price obviously varies depending on the areas treated and the dose which needs to be used, which can differ from patient to patient.

We charge $4.20 per unit, $3.99 for Ruby Club Members, and $3 per unit for the introductory special (see below). Most of our patients spend about $200 – $600 every 3-5 months.

This works out at about $20-50 dollars a week. Not too much for a treatment that is proven to make a visible difference to the signs of ageing.

How much do Anti-Wrinkle Injections Hurt?

Generally very little. We use tiny needles, and most of the injections points are only 0.01-0.05ml, pricked just beneath the skin’s surface.

Very often some of the injections are not felt at all, some can be a small prick sensation.

I always say anti-wrinkle injections wouldn’t be the most popular cosmetic treatment in the world today if they were painful.

What areas can I treat with Anti-Wrinkle Injections?

The main areas treated are:

• Frown Lines – the “Angry Lines”, “Number 11” or “Cranky Lines” between the eyebrows
• Forehead Lines – The horizontal lines across the fore head
• Crow’s Feet – The smile lines radiating out from the eyes
• Lifting The Brows – Clever placement can often give a nice temporary brow lift effect

Other common areas treated are:

• The Bunny Lines – on the sides of the nose
• To treat headache and migraines
• To relax the chin
• Vertical lip lines or “Smoker’s Lines”
• Masseter muscle – to help prevent teeth grinding, jaw clenching, TMJ (jaw joint) pain and also to slim and feminise the jawline.
• Gummy smile – anti-wrinkle injections can stop the top lip lifting too high and showing the gums when you smile
• “Lip Flip” – to give a subtle increased lip size
• To lift the corner of the mouth and treat marionette lines
• Vertical neck bands
• Excessive sweating in the armpits or other areas

What are the side effects of Anti-Wrinkle injections – are they safe?

Generally these treatments are considered very safe. Very rarely there can be a tiny bruise, generally only the size of a pencil end.

Very rarely and unwanted effect can occur on a neighbouring muscle, causing an eye brow heaviness, eye-lid heaviness or similar.

With careful placement and conservative doses we hardly ever see these effect at Envisage Clinic. Extremely rarely patients may experience a headache or similar minor effect after treatment.

How Long do the results of Anti-Wrinkle Injections Last?

This varies depending on the site injected, the dose and the individual. Generally results take a few days to become apparent, and last for 3-5 months.

What is the best age to start Anti-Wrinkle Injections?

This is actually not an easy question to answer. Certainly if expression lines are starting to become permanently etched onto the face this is a sign that anti-wrinkle injections could / should be considered.

Some prefer to start before lines are becoming permanent, and anti-wrinkle injections are certainly powerfully preventative, often even at a low dose, at this time.

Am I too Old For Anti-Wrinkle Injections

I doubt it. Many of our patients are in their 70’s or even older, and they still get good results from anti-wrinkle injections.

Are Anti-Wrinkle Injections good for both men and women?

Yes, but often treatments need to be done differently for men. For example, men naturally have a flatter eye brow shape, compared to a female arch shape.

Anti- wrinkle injections to the forehead need to be done in a way that preserves this natural difference between the sexes.

Men also often have stronger facial muscles and may need a higher dose.

Softening frown lines and crow’s feet does not make a man look less “manly”, but can make them look less angry all the time and maybe a bit more youthful.
